We are pleased to announce that Prof. Edward Lemke has been elected to the Academia Europaea, one of Europe’s most distinguished academies of science and scholarship.
Founded in 1988, the Academia Europaea brings together leading experts from across all fields of scholarly inquiry to promote learning, education, and the public understanding of science. Membership is granted by invitation only, following a rigorous peer-review process, and is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated sustained academic excellence and international impact in their field.
Prof. Lemke’s election recognizes his pioneering contributions to synthetic and chemical biology, particularly in developing non-canonical amino acid technologies, bioorthogonal chemistry, and next-generation tools for exploring intrinsically disordered proteins and minimal cellular systems. His work has advanced our understanding of how molecular complexity and compartmentalization underpin cellular function, and has opened new directions in protein engineering and cellular reprogramming.
Edward Lemke now joins a prestigious network of over 5,500 members, including 88 Nobel laureates, whose mission is to advance European scholarship and provide independent science-based advice to policymakers and society.
We warmly congratulate Edward on this remarkable achievement!
